The Order

1.  God
2.  Spouse
3.  Children
4.  Work  (because it provides for #2 and #3)
5.  Extended Family
6.  Friends
7.  Strangers
8.  Enemies

The way we prioritize our life speaks volumes about our love for Jesus Christ and our willingness to follow his example. If we were to order the priorities in our lives without the wisdom and guidance of God, the list would look much different than the list above. Maybe it would look more like the list below:

1.  Myself
2.  Work
3.  Children
4.  Spouse / Friends  (depending on your mood)
5.  Extended Family

The point being that “myself” doesn’t even make the list if you were to model your priorities like Jesus did. Jesus was selfless, always putting others first, going as far as to lay down his own life for those that did not know or love him and even those who hated him. Which list of life priorities more closely resembles our own? Have we followed the example given by Jesus Christ, our perfect Lord and Savior?

It would be a lie if I claimed that my life priorities matched the first list perfectly. Knowing how we should live and actually following through can be very difficult sometimes, although I do strive with my whole heart to have the right life priorities. With help and wisdom from God, we can all achieve the correct ordering of our life priorities, and in doing so, we will please God and bring great glory and honor to Him and His son, Jesus Christ! May God help us with this most important task in our lives, in Jesus’ name I pray. AMEN!
